Ingredients

Dough
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Cinnamon Filling
  • cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
Maple Pecan Glaze
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • cup brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Add flour, yeast, sugar, and salt to a large bowl. Mix well.
  2. Pour in warm milk, egg, and softened butter. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead for about 8 minutes until soft and smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 1–1½ hours.
  5. Melt butter in a saucepan. Stir in maple syrup, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  6. Pour glaze into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the top.
  7. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread butter over the surface.
  8. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  9. Roll dough tightly into a log. Slice into equal rolls.
  10. Place rolls cut-side down over the maple pecan glaze.
  11. Cover and let rise again for 30–40 minutes.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  13. Let rest 5 minutes, then flip onto a serving plate while warm.

Notes

  • Use real maple syrup for the best flavor. Pancake syrup won’t give the same depth.
  • Don’t let the buns cool too long before flipping. The glaze sets fast.
  • These buns can be prepped the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
  • Warm leftovers gently to keep them soft and gooey.
