Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk powder
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or melted butter
  • ¼ cup milk adjust as needed
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A few drops of rose essence optional
  • Chopped nuts for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. Combine sugar and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir in cardamom powder and rose essence, if using. Set aside to cool.
  2. Mix milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking powder. Add ghee and mix well. Gradually add milk to form a soft dough. Rest for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into smooth, crack-free balls.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the dough balls in batches, turning until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Soak the fried Gulab Jamun in the warm syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Garnish with chopped nuts, if desired, and enjoy.

Notes

These can be prepared a day ahead and soaked in syrup overnight for even better flavor!
