Ingredients

  • 2 –3 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1 ½ cups dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
Optional toppings: chopped nuts, shredded coconut, sprinkles, or flaky sea salt

Method

Slice the bananas: Peel bananas and cut into even slices about ½ inch thick.
Freeze the slices: Arrange on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 1–2 hours until firm.
Melt the chocolate: Combine chocolate chips and coconut oil in a heatproof bowl. Microwave in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
Dip the bananas: Using a fork or skewer, dip each frozen banana slice in the melted chocolate, letting the extra drip off.
Add toppings: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle on your choice of toppings.
Freeze again: Return to the tray and freeze for at least 30 minutes before serving. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

              Notes

              • Bananas should be ripe enough for sweetness but still firm so they hold shape.
              • For a lighter treat, use extra-dark chocolate.
              • Add toppings right after dipping so they stick before the chocolate hardens.
              • Store with parchment between layers to prevent sticking.
