Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 15 oz chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter or peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2-4 tablespoons water to achieve desired consistency
  • Optional toppings: chocolate chips chopped nuts, or fresh fruit

Method
 

  1. Blend the Ingredients: In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup or honey, almond butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  2. Adjust Consistency: Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired consistency. Blend again to combine.
  3. Taste and Adjust: Taste the hummus and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more maple syrup or honey.
  4. Serve: Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and top with optional toppings if desired. Enjoy with fruit, pretzels, or straight from the bowl!

Notes

For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder. You can store this hummus in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. Top with fresh fruit or a sprinkle of chopped nuts for added texture and flavor.
