Ingredients
  

  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee cooled
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur optional
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • Cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Cream Mixture: In a saucepan, whisk together egg yolks and sugar over medium heat till thickened. Add milk and cook until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool. Fold in mascarpone cheese and whipped cream until smooth.
  • Make the Coffee Mixture: In a bowl, combine brewed coffee and coffee liqueur if using.
  • Assemble the Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture and layer them at the bottom of a serving dish. Spread half of the cream mixture over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream.
  • Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
