Ingredients
Method
- Prepare the Dough: In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat. Stir in the flour until well combined. Let it cool slightly, then add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Pipe the Churros: Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Carefully pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length. Fry until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: While churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until thoroughly coated.
- Make the Chocolate Sauce: In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
- Serve: Arrange churros on a plate alongside a bowl of warm chocolate sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
Notes
For extra crispy churros, fry in small batches to maintain oil temperature. If the dough is too thick, let it rest for a few more minutes before piping. Serve immediately for the best texture.
