Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil for frying
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon for coating
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Method

  1. n a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and stir in flour until smooth dough forms.
  2. Let the dough cool slightly, then mix in eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  4. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, then roll the churros in the mixture while they’re still warm.
  6. In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream over low heat. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted and smooth.
  7. Serve churros warm with the chocolate sauce on the side.

Notes

Best served fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for a day. For extra richness, drizzle some of the chocolate sauce on top of the churros before serving.
